Μετά την παρουσίαση του Μου

Μετά την παρουσίαση του Μουσικού Φεστιβάλ Χίου πέρυσι στη 16η Συνάντηση Θεάτρων στην Τουρκία θα θέλαμε να ευχαριστήσουμε τις Διεθνείς Ημέρες Θεάτρου του Ιζμίρ και τους ανθρώπους της πόλης για την νέα πρόσκληση, το ζεστό καλωσόρισμα, την υπέροχη φιλοξενία και την ένδειξη φιλίας. Η βραδιά στην Κρατική Όπερα Elhamra Sahnesi θα μας μείνει αξέχαστη. Ανυπομονούμε να συνεργαστούμε και πάλι στο μέλλον.
After presenting the Chios Music Festival last year at the 16th Theatre Meeting in Turkey, we would like to thank the International Izmir Theatre Days and the city of Izmir for the newly invitation, the warm welcome, the amazing hospitality and the tree of friendship. It was an unforgettable evening at the Izmir State Opera and Ballet Alhambra Theatre Elhamra Sahnesi. We very much look forward to future collaborations.

#cmf2024 The winter edition of the 8th Chios Musi

The winter edition of the 8th Chios Music Festival was successfully completed a few days ago.

During the seven days of this year’s winter edition, we had the opportunity to attend a series of events that brought together artists from all over the world with the local artistic community, students of schools of the island, refugees and creative groups. Multicultural collaborations have always been in the core of our programme and the end of every festival rekindles for us the same conviction: the more people from different backgrounds and cultures communicate and collaborate through music and cultural institutions the more culture and ethos is channelled into the world.

Looking back at the winter edition of the 8th CMF we feel deeply grateful for the love we got from the people in Chios, since especially this winter our interaction during the festival has been very warm and supportive, leaving us with a sense of fulfilment and even more enthusiasm to visualise our upcoming summer edition.

Στο ζεστό περιβάλλον της Δημόσιας Βιβλιοθήκης Χίου "Κοραής" την περασμένη Πέμπτη ο Γιώργος Ταμπάκης και η Rebecca Trescher ισσορόπησαν με δεξιοτεχνία ανάμεσα σε τζαζ, σύγχρονη και έθνικ μουσική και χάρισαν στο κοινό του 8ου Μουσικού Φεστιβάλ Χίου μια μοναδική βραδιά.

In the warm environment of the Historic Central Public Library "Koraes", last Thursday Giorgos Tabakis and Rebecca Trescher balanced between jazz, contemporary and ethnic music, giving the audience of the 8th CMF a unique, passionate performance.

Ο δημιουργός της παιδικής όπερας KIRANA, Ruben Zahra έχει στο ενεργητικό του μια πολύχρονη πορεία που αψηφά τα σύνορα των μουσικών ειδών. Οι σπουδές του στην κλασική μουσική πολύ γρήγορα εμπλουτίστηκαν, εντρυφώντας στη ηλεκτρονική μουσική και τη σύνθεση των κινηματογραφικών soundtrack.
Ο Zahra πέρασε κάποια χρόνια στο Χόλυγουντ όπου έγραφε μουσική για ταινίες και στη συνέχεια επέστρεψε στη γενέτειρά του, τη Μάλτα, όπου ανέλαβε χρέη καλλιτεχνικού διευθυντή στο Διεθνές Φεστιβάλ Τεχνών της Μάλτας. Τα τελευταία χρόνια ταξιδεύει και παρουσιάζει τα έργα του στα μεγαλύτερα φεστιβάλ του κόσμου.
Το KIRANA, έργο-ορόσημο γα τον ίδιο έχει ταξιδέψει σε 17 χώρες, γνωρίζοντας τεράστια επιτυχία. Ο ίδιος αποδίδει την επιτυχία του στη σύνθετη φύση του, καθώς συνδυάζει διαφορετικές μορφές τέχνης αλλά και το καθηλωτικό πάντρεμα αφήγησης και οπτικών εφέ.

Tonight Chios welcomes the children’s opera KIRANA,, the pioneering international art project of Ruben Zahra, that has traveled to 18 countries so far and wherever it’s been performed, it has inspired, moved and impressed the audiences.
But who is the artist behind this beautiful piece of work and what does he think about his project?
Music and projects by Ruben Zahra have been presented in major festivals, opera houses and theatres all over Europe as well as in Israel, Egypt, Tunisia, USA, India, South Africa, Australia and Hong Kong.
His music carries fragments from a variety of musical cultures. Influences from rock, folk and jazz are transformed within the fabric of his contemporary work.
After a few years spent working for the Hollywood film industry as a soundtrack composer, he returned to his country and works internationally as a freelance composer.
He is director of the culture organisation ‘Soundscapes’, president of the ‘Malta Association for Contemporary Music’ and the artistic director of the Malta International Arts Festival.
When asked about the success of KIRANA, Zahra said: “The success of this project is not only the music - it's a complex synergy between different artforms dominated by the narrative and visual impact.

KIRANA, Μύθοι της Δημιουργίας | Μια όπερα για παιδιά και με παιδιά

Απόψε το βράδυ η Χίος γίνεται ο 18ος προορισμός του KIRANA, Myths of Creation, του πρωτοποριακού διεθνούς καλλιτεχνικού πρότζεκτ από τη Μάλτα, του Ruben Zahra, που σε κάθε τόπο που επισκέπτεται εμπνέει, συγκινεί και εντυπωσιάζει.

Η χειμερινή έκδοση του 8ου Μουσικού Φεστιβάλ Χίου ρίχνει αυλαία με τον πιο όμορφο τρόπο – μια παιδική όπερα με πρωταγωνιστές παιδιά, στη δημιουργία της οποίας συνέβαλαν και μαθητές της Χίου.

Εδώ και πέντε μέρες τα δικά μας παιδιά εργάστηκαν ακούραστα αλλά και πολύ δημιουργικά σε ένα καλλιτεχνικό workshop από την Tricia Dawn Williams και τον Ruben Zahra προκειμένου να συνεισφέρουν άμεσα στο καλλιτεχνικό αποτέλεσμα με τις δικές τους εικόνες, κινήσεις, ρυθμούς και γλώσσα.

KIRANA: Myths of Creation | A children's opera with children

Tonight Chios becomes the 18th destination of the pioneering international art project of Ruben Zahra, KIRANA, Myths of Creation!

The winter edition of the 8th CMF makes a very special closure. in the most beautiful way – a children’s opera with children, in which children of Chios have participated.

For the last five days our students participated in the artistic workshop by Tricia Dawn Williams and Ruben Zahra and tonight they shall contribute directly to the artistic result of the performance with their own images, movements, rhythms, and language.
