Homerion Cultural Centre of the Municipality of Chios

As part of the collaboration between the Chios Music Festival and the Cinema Club of Chios, we have chosen to launch the programme with the screening of this iconic film, first presented to the public in 1940; a timeless masterpiece, a celebration of image and sound; eight parts that bring together classical music with the most innovative animation of its time.

In the film, which marks a milestone in the history of cinema, involving over 1,000 artists and technicians, great and famous works from the classical repertoire are combined with over 500 animated characters, including fairies, flowers, elephants, hippos and of course Mickey as the sorcerer’s apprentice. The outcome? A true celebration of music and image that surpasses all imagination.
