One of the first international collaborations established by the Chios Music Festival is with the Julius Stern Institute of the Faculty of Music of the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK Berlin), an internationally recognised organisation that is considered to be the leading of its kind, undertaking the training and promotion of new musical talents in Germany. The first visit of the Institute’s soloists to Chios took place in 2019, leaving the best impressions, so both sides committed to a continuous and dynamic collaboration. This year, the young soloists of the Institute return to Chios and perform with students of the Chios Music School, paving the way for the young musicians of Chios for their first international collaborations. Director of the Julius Stern Institute since 2010 is Professor Anita Rennert, who has been teaching guitar at the University of the Arts for several years.
The concert will take place on the same morning exclusively for students and child refugees, while the young soloists of the Julius Stern Institute will also travel to Oinousses on Wednesday, 7 February to perform a concert for the students of Oinousses.
