Chios Music Festival presents its new production, entitled “Loukis Laras” based on the homonymous literary work by Dimitrios Vikelas. The text, which is performed for the first time on stage in the form of a musical narration for voice and cello, follows the journey of an “anti-heroic” figure of the conflict era, who experiences the tragedy of the Massacre of Chios, but refrains from the atmosphere of patriotic exaltation and heroic hymns of his time. Conception and composition are signed by Eleftherios Veniadis, who notes: “Having grown up in Chios, I feel the depth and content of this written discourse and understand that the historical context of that era intersects in some way with today’s reality.”
