A dedication to Jani Christou

An event that brings together renowned professional and amateur musicians, including the Girls’ Choir of the Sing-Akademie zu Berlin and the Chios Music School Choir, as well as graduates of the latter who are currently studying at Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media. 

The first part of the concert will feature a performance by a five-piece wind band (two trumpets, a horn, a trombone and a tuba) of classical works by composers such as Clarke, Purcell, Bach, Händel, Mouret and Bizet. 

In the second part, more than 120 choirs and instrumentalists will take to the stage at the “Mikis Theodorakis” Open Air Theatre to present a programme dedicated to the composers and musical genres that influenced Jani Christou. They will also perform the Latin Mass / Messa Latina, one of Christou’s earliest choral works, composed in 1953.
